(Continued from Part One…)

Suddenly we are just like Humpty all cracked up, lying there broken and in trouble and we know that unless a drastic event happens we will not be able to be put together again, this fall could be fatal.

“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the king’s horses, and all the king’s men,
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.”

Now here comes the king’s men and the king’s horses, a sigh of relief? But who are they? What king? Again we do not know, anyway they try to pick up the pieces and try to put Humpty together again, do you think maybe they tried superglue? Or maybe duct tape? But this all fails.

Haven’t you seen that we also have the “king’s men” you know the things of the world, the stars foretell, tarot cards, hypnosis, psychotherapy, New Age movements or how about quartz crystals that will make our energy flow and put us back together again. These are only like putting a small plaster on a large open wound in a feeble attempt to try and heal it.

So in the end of this rhyme we get the answer “All the king’s horses, and all the king’s men, Couldn’t put Humpty together again.”

Just think about this; here is a children’s rhyme that we can compare to the story of creation, look at it this way, all the king’s men represent many failed attempts to bring reconciliation between God and us, look at the first 39 books of the Bible, the patriarchs could represent the king’s men, that did not work out too well as they failed, Moses’ Law was a good attempt; then God completed His plan for us, He sent His Son, the King of Kings Himself, Jesus Christ to do what all the world’s king’s men failed to do.

Romans 8:3: ”For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin; He condemned sin in the flesh.” (New International Version).

Galatians 2:16: “Yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ.” (New International Version).

2 Corinthians 5:18-21: “But all things are of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For Him who knew no sin He made to be sin on our behalf; so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (New International Version)

The Law was trying to patch us up, but now we have Jesus Christ, the only ONE that can truly put us all back together by making us a new creation. He is the creator, He created us in the beginning. That is the bottom line and what it is all about.

In this, we need to start with a new life with our Lord and Saviour, being born again and being recreated and making a new start.

2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” (New International Version).

By our faith and trust in Jesus, no longer are we estranged from God, we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus and reconciled with God and our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Here is another part to consider, we are THE KING’S men and women, not of the king’s of this world; but appointed ambassadors in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

In our own power we cannot put people together but with our faith in Jesus we have ONE who is able do just that, so we are called to go out and tell people WHO is able to do just that, Jesus is there to pick up the pieces and put broken men and woman together making them whole again.

So when you are feeling all cracked up, take heart, turn to Jesus He is the one that is able to put you together again, always remember Jesus loves you.

Let us pray: Father God, please fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we will take Your Word and apply it in our lives. Write it into our hearts and despite the fact that we are prone to be distracted and our hearts being cold at times, draw us to a closeness – all of us closer to Your Son Jesus Christ who reigns and lives and will return. For we ask it in Jesus’ name, Amen.
