Proverbs 4:6-9
If you have lived long enough, as I have, you can claim to have seen many changes taking place over the last 70 years. Among the many changes I have seen (and there have been more than a few) is the exponential growth in gaining knowledge.
Someone wrote; the world has gained more knowledge from the mid-’70s to our present than from the beginning of civilization to the ‘70s, giving the word ‘exponential’ new meaning.
I think our world has had many phenomenal discoveries, inventions, and general changes. But however wonderful all these are, can we say for certain that the world is a better place than it was 20 years ago? I could not answer that question without going into a research study and producing a paper on the subject. Each of us is aware of the difficulties we face in our world, so I’m not going to bore you with all my views.
My country has many historic structures, some dating back as many as 10,000 years! Of course, with some wonder, they have ‘stood the test of time.’ But all are ruins in one form or another. They bear testimony of much bloodletting, pain, poverty, and suffering.
What civilization has stood the test of time?
Enough, let’s have a look at what the scriptures say on the issue:
6 “If you love Wisdom
and don’t reject her,
she will watch over you.
7 The best thing about Wisdom
is Wisdom herself;
good sense is more important
than anything else.
8 If you value Wisdom
and hold tightly to her,
great honors will be yours.
9 It will be like wearing
a glorious crown
of beautiful flowers.”
(Proverbs 4:6-9 Contemporary English Version)
Respect and obey the LORD!
This is the beginning of knowledge.
Only a fool rejects wisdom and good advice.
(Proverbs 1:7 Contemporary English Version)
I am sure we will all agree from what the above scriptures say, knowledge is essential for growth. The most important question is – what sort of knowledge? The scripture tells us that knowledge inspired by God alone is the wisest, longest-lasting, safe, and most successful.
In addition, searching for, finding, and applying Godly wisdom to our lives will give us a fearless, healthy, abundant, and honorable life. We would greatly bless ourselves, our families, and the world.
I have a thriving imagination. Bear with me as I share a piece of it with you now.
Imagine our world, having all its population with Godly wisdom. People ruled by governments that encourage this way of living. Researchers, scientists, doctors, inventors, and explorers all work on the same principle; Could you reckon what this world would be like? All research would be powered by Godly wisdom, all scientists, doctors, inventors, and explorers fuelled by the same force.
I feel confident that all new ideas, scientific and medical discoveries, and remedies sourced from God’s power would have a lasting Godly effect on the well-being of the global population. Do you agree?
Is it possible, you rightly ask?
The scriptures say it is possible – not just my dreams; what do you think? Indeed, this leaves us with one conclusion. Start looking, discovering, and applying wisdom and understanding to your life. The cherry on top is that as you live in God’s superpower, you will also gain knowledge.
Your personal decision and accomplishment of this goal will bring about changes in your life and the lives of others.
Love and Blessings
