As Christians, it is easy to get caught up in the daily grind of life and lose sight of our ultimate goal – that is, to be with God in His Kingdom, both in heaven when we leave the earth, and now, while on earth. We can become so focused on our earthly responsibilities and problems that we forget about the eternal perspective.

One way to stay focused on our target is by seeking God. Jesus told us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). When we prioritize the Kingdom, we are reminded of our ultimate goal and are more likely to stay on track and not get diverted by the distractions of this world.

Another way to stay goal focused is by relying on the assurance of the Holy Spirit. While here on earth, the Holy Spirit is our helper and guide, leading us to all truth (John 16:13). When we seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can be assured that we will be pointed to the right path.

Three great men in the Bible – Moses, Isaiah, and Job – all had encounters with God while they were alive and were forever changed by it.

When Moses saw God, he was afraid and asked, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11). Moses recognized his own inadequacy and relied on God’s strength to accomplish his mission.

Isaiah also had an encounter with God and was overwhelmed by His holiness. He cried out, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts” (Isaiah 6:5). Isaiah realized the depth of his sinfulness in comparison to a holy God.

Job had a profound encounter with God and was humbled by His greatness. He exclaimed, “Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes” (Job 42:6). Job recognized his own insignificance in the face of God’s greatness.

These encounters with God remind us of the importance of humbling ourselves before Him and relying on His grace and mercy. ‘Grace’ is when God does something for us, while the ‘law’ is when we try to do something for God. We can never earn our way into God’s Kingdom by following the law, but we can receive it as a gift through faith in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9).

My question is: How would we react if we came face to face with God right now?

We must never lose sight of God’s face and His great love for us. 2 Corinthians 4:4, says, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

Satan wants to keep us from seeing the light of the gospel and the glory of Christ, but we must try to keep our eyes fixed on the Lord at all costs – through prayer, fellowship and reading His Word.

It’s easy to lose sight of where we’re going in life and be distracted by the world. But by seeking first the Kingdom of God, relying on the assurance of the Holy Spirit, and humbling ourselves before God, we can stay focused on our ultimate goal – to share in His Kingdom. Let’s not lose sight of this target but rather continually look for God in our daily situations – always – in everything we do!

May the Master draw you to become one with Him, as He is one with the Father – Bless you all.
