Someone asked me. ‘You’re a Christian right? How do you know that all this talk of God and the Bible are for real? I mean, imagine if when you die you discover there is no truth in what you believed?’

Well I’d rather not arrive after death as an unbeliever and having to shake hands with the Devil. But if I arrived after death as a believer to find there is no God, I won’t have to shake hands with the Devil, because he wouldn’t be there either,  and I would have had a loving peaceful life on Earth. I win either way wouldn’t you agree?

This must be as solid a reason as any proving that it’s a safer bet to believe God exists because you can lose nothing. Right? Right.

But there is more. Have you noticed from previous teachings that with me there is always more…comforting to know you noticed.

Proving God Exists

Let’s start here; can one prove that God exists? Yes, if one sees God physically and takes a photo of God holding a placard stating, ‘I am God’ with certification by the angelic hosts as witnesses, it could be said that it was proven a person faced God. Moses tried this but God said, ‘If you look at me, you’ll fry.’ So Moses didn’t take a chance and hid behind a rock as advised. God passed and left him with a token of the passing by, some laws neatly chiselled in stone and a shiny finish to his skin.

Seriously, God is Spirit and in reality, spirits are not visible. I know what you thinking – what about people who have seen ghosts or other images? There is a difference between ghosts and spirits, but that’s another story for another day.

“God is Spirit, and those who worship God must be led by the Spirit to worship him according to the truth.” [1]

But the best news is that if we are led by God’s Spirit, we can come to believe that God exists, even if our five senses do not accept it – the process is called faith.

Predestination

So how does one get God’s Spirit, so they are enabled to believe in God?

“…and he has always known who his chosen ones would be. He had decided to let them become like his own Son, so his Son would be the first of many children.” [2]

God knew from the beginning of time who would believe and who would not believe. Those who God knew would believe – these receive God’s Spirit.

We can’t do a study to attain God’s Spirit; we can’t buy God’s Spirit – only God can give us this life-saving gift.

“When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money and said, ’Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit’.”

Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!  You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God.  Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.  For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”[3]

We need a wee summary here; in case you have got lost.

  • No one can see God, no human ever will.

But He added, “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.”[4]

  • God is a Spirit and cannot be seen by humans.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”[5]

  • No human can believe in God until God’s Spirit causes that person to believe.

“…and he has always known who his chosen ones would be. He had decided to let them become like his own Son, so his Son would be the first of many children.” [6]

  • The Bible, the first copy of which was written in book form was collaborated by St. Jerome in approximately AD 400.[7] Gutenberg produced the first printed version from Jerome’s Vulgate written book in 1454.

Many have tried to discredit the Bible over millennia, but who can account for it being the most read book in the world? Who can account for a book containing more wisdom and prophecy than any other to this day.

  • Finally, No human can prove God exists, not even those with God’s Spirit within them. Don’t look for ways to prove God exists – it’s a fruitless
